Guidelines for cataloguing images using the Picture Queensland web form

12.  Identifier

• Thumbnail URL
• Control number

Field labels: THUMBNAIL URL and CONTROL NUMBER

Definition:  An unambiguous reference to the resource within a given context.

Purpose:

1. Thumbnail url: Provides the url of the thumbnail image.
2. Control number: Unique identifier for each metadata record.

Obligation:  THUMBNAIL URL: - Mandatory
CONTROL NUMBER: - Mandatory

Input guidelines

12.1 Thumbnail URL

This identifier will be the url of the thumbnail image, ie, the file location on the State Library’s server.  The structure of the url will be http://enc.slq.qld.gov.au/[contributor code]/tnl/[filename]b.jpb

Enter the THUMBNAIL URL using the format as specified above.

 For example:

• http://enc.slq.qld.gov.au/qmar/tnl/qmar00001b.jpg

A list of contributor codes is provided in Appendix B.

12.2 Control number

A unique number used to identify each metadata record, similar to a bibliographic record number. The structure of the control number will be [contributor code][sequential running number]. A list of contributor codes is provided in Appendix B.

Enter the CONTROL NUMBER using the format as specified above.

For example:

• qmar1
• qmar2
• qmar23
