Feature: Ron and Ngaire Gale

Ron and Ngaire Gale with a camera

The Ron and Ngaire Gale collection is a major feature of Picture Queensland. The Gales were photo journalists who worked in northern and western Queensland during the 1980s. The images cover many of Ron and Ngaire’s experiences including:

  • the tranquility of tropical islands
  • the stillness of the rainforests
  • the breathtaking beauty and infinite variety of tropical sunrises and sunsets
  • the frantic involvement in high speed sail board and ocean racing photography
  • the indescribable sense of loneliness and isolation of the outback
  • the exasperation of making a critical mistake at a split second photo opportunity, followed by a wave of relief on discovering that your partner has captured the shot!
